“I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.”
– E. B. White

When Lynda joined VCPI as the Executive Director in 1999, the organization had just six months of funding left. More than two decades later and under Lynda’s leadership, VCPI has grown into a sustainable nonprofit and one of the nation’s premier public safety resource and service providers.

Under her guidance, VCPI has provided cutting-edge training on nearly every public safety topic for over 20 years and has expanded its services to assist public safety agencies on a variety of critical response efforts
These include developing and delivering technology-enhanced public safety resources; addressing community engagement needs; coordinating and implementing public safety services such as automated victim notification systems; developing and administering law enforcement certification programs, public safety learning management systems, and eLearning platforms; and much more.

With more than two decades of experience, Lynda is a trusted and essential voice in the Public Safety training, services, and leadership community. She has served as a county deputy (patrol); a national speaker, instructor and facilitator, particularly in the areas of leadership and community policing; and as a participant in task force and committee activities, addressing such issues as body worn cameras, methamphetamines, youth gun violence, court security, and immigration.

A lifelong learner, she holds a master’s degree in public administration from Virginia Commonwealth University, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Radford University, a master’s certificate in business management from Tulane University, and is a Certified Association Executive with the American Society of Association Executives.

Her expertise and contributions to VCPI’s mission are surpassed only by her passion for and commitment to her family and friends. When she’s not at work, Lynda can be found living the country life, raising and riding horses, hiking the national parks with her daughters, or reading a one of her favorite Shell Silverstein or James Michener books. She lives with her husband, children, horses, dog, and other animals in Beaverdam, Virginia.
